When Philippe arrived at our school last year, it was a moment of great discovery and growth for all of us. Philippe, a gentle and curious child with albinism, taught us that diversity is a treasure and that welcoming those who are different is, above all, an act of courage and love.
At first, it wasn’t easy: the children, the teachers, and even some families had to face long-held fears and prejudices. But day by day, with his smile and his eagerness to learn, Philippe managed to turn diffidence into trust and fear into tenderness.

This year, our story has gained a new chapter: Dieu de Grâce, Philippe’s younger brother, has joined the school.
His arrival was calm and natural. For him, because having his older brother by his side made him feel immediately safe and accepted. For his classmates, who, thanks to their experience with Philippe, opened themselves to difference without hesitation. And for the teacher, who had faced doubts and fears the previous year, but now looks at everything with greater serenity and understanding.
Philippe has moved up to the next class, and Dieu de Grâce has taken his place, finding a classroom ready to welcome him warmly and naturally.

A Sign of Growth and Hope

What was once new and challenging has now become part of our daily life. The arrival of Dieu de Grâce has shown how much our community has grown in awareness and sensitivity, and how deeply Philippe’s journey has touched us.
The children no longer see differences: for them, Philippe and Dieu de Grâce are simply two brothers, two playmates, two smiles that brighten the classroom.

The Power of Example

Their story reminds us that inclusion is not a destination but a path — made of small steps, daily gestures, listening, and openness. Philippe opened the way, and Dieu de Grâce followed with light steps, carrying with him the certainty that every child, when welcomed with love, can grow and flourish in their uniqueness.
